Lifeguard / Pool Attendant / Water Safety Officer

Position Overview

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of guests, staff, and visitors at pools, waterparks, and water-themed facilities within the hotel. The role includes monitoring water activities, preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and enforcing safety regulations in line with UAE/GCC health and safety laws.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Surveillance
  • Monitor all aquatic areas constantly to ensure guest safety.
  • Identify and respond to potential hazards or unsafe behaviors.
  • Enforce pool, waterpark, and water facility rules and regulations.
  • Prevent accidents by controlling crowd behavior and advising guests on safe practices.
Emergency Response
  • Perform rescues and administer first aid, CPR, and life-saving procedures when necessary.
  • Respond promptly to all accidents, medical emergencies, or incidents.
  • Notify supervisors and management of emergencies and prepare incident reports.
  • Maintain composure and follow emergency protocols during high-stress situations.
Guest Service & Communication
  • Provide information and guidance to guests regarding water safety and facility usage.
  • Maintain professional and courteous interaction with guests at all times.
  • Assist guests with poolside facilities, floatation devices, and safety equipment.
Equipment & Facility Management
  • Check lifeguard equipment (rescue tubes, buoys, first aid kits, communication devices) daily.
  • Inspect pool areas, slides, and water features for hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Report faulty equipment or unsafe conditions to maintenance or management immediately.
  • Ensure hygiene and cleanliness of poolside and water-themed areas.
Training & Compliance
  • Stay updated on UAE/GCC safety regulations, pool codes, and life-saving protocols.
  • Attend training sessions, drills, and refresher courses in first aid, CPR, and water rescue.
  • Ensure compliance with local municipality and hotel safety policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in lifeguard training, CPR, and first aid is mandatory.
  • Additional water safety or aquatic management certification is an advantage.
Experience
  • 1–2 years of experience as a Lifeguard or Aquatic Safety Officer preferred.
  • Experience in hotel pools, waterparks, or recreation facilities in the UAE/GCC is highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong swimming skills and physical fitness.
  • Knowledge of lifesaving techniques, CPR, and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to stay alert for long periods and react quickly.
  • Good communication and guest service skills.
  • Basic knowledge of pool chemical safety and hygiene standards.
Language
  • Fluent English required; Arabic or additional languages advantageous.
