Maintenance Assistant / Maintenance Technician Assistant / Engineering Assistant

Position Overview

The Maintenance Assistant supports the engineering and maintenance department in ensuring that all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems are functioning efficiently, safely, and in compliance with UAE/GCC regulations. The role assists with preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance to enhance guest comfort and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance Support
  • Assist in routine preventive maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and other hotel systems.
  • Support maintenance engineers in repairs of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, replacing taps, unclogging drains, or fixing furniture.
  • Ensure all maintenance tools and equipment are handled safely and stored properly.
Guest Service & Room Support
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from Front Office or Housekeeping.
  • Assist in resolving guest-related maintenance issues in rooms or facilities efficiently.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to guests during maintenance work.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow UAE/GCC health, safety, and fire regulations.
  • Adhere to safe handling procedures for chemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist in identifying hazards and reporting safety risks to the maintenance supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with local municipality and hotel engineering standards.
Inventory & Equipment
  • Monitor and maintain stock of maintenance supplies and materials.
  • Report shortages or defective tools/equipment to the supervisor.
  • Assist in equipment inspections and minor calibration as directed.
Operational Support
  • Support the engineering team during preventive maintenance schedules and inspections.
  • Assist during renovation or refurbishment projects as required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the maintenance workshop and storage areas.
  • Participate in engineering meetings, briefings, and training sessions.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical or vocational training in engineering, electrical, mechanical, or maintenance preferred.
Experience
  • 1–2 years’ experience in hotel maintenance, engineering, or facility management preferred.
  • Familiarity with hotel equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, and HVAC is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to use maintenance tools and equipment safely.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under supervision.
  • Basic communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
