Bellman / Porter / Guest Service Assistant

Position Overview

The Bellman is the first point of contact for arriving and departing guests and is responsible for providing prompt, courteous, and professional luggage handling and guest assistance. The role ensures a positive first and last impression, supports guest satisfaction, and maintains high standards of service consistent with UAE/GCC hospitality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Assistance & Luggage Handling
  • Welcome guests on arrival with a warm and professional greeting.
  • Assist with luggage handling, including delivery to guest rooms.
  • Escort guests to rooms, providing information about facilities and services.
  • Handle guest departures efficiently, assisting with luggage and transportation.
  • Provide concierge assistance when required (e.g., taxi arrangements, directions).
Service Excellence
  • Maintain a polished and professional appearance at all times.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and inquiries with courtesy.
  • Assist VIP guests and high-profile visitors with personalized service.
  • Ensure a positive, friendly, and helpful demeanor.
Operational Support
  • Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, and Bell Desk for smooth check-in/check-out processes.
  • Assist in maintaining public areas, entrance lobbies, and service corridors.
  • Ensure luggage storage areas are organized, secure, and safe.
  • Support other departments with manual handling tasks as required.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow hotel safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques.
  • Ensure guest belongings are handled carefully and reported if damaged.
  • Comply with UAE/GCC occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Report lost & found items following hotel policy.
Teamwork & Communication
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Participate in team briefings, training sessions, and operational meetings.
  • Support team efforts during high-volume periods, events, and VIP arrivals.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational training in hospitality is an advantage.
Experience
  • 1–2 years of experience as a Bellman, Porter, or Front Office Assistant preferred.
  • Hospitality or hotel experience strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy luggage safely.
  • Good knowledge of the local area, hotels, and transportation services.
  • Basic English communication skills; Arabic or other languages are an advantage.
  • Punctual, reliable, and professional.
